TURKPA Secretary General meets with Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye H.E. Mr. Numan Kurtulmuş

On 27 October 2026, within the framework of the official visit to the Republic of Türkiye, the Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA) Ambassador Ramil Hasan met with the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (GNAT) H.E. Professor Numan Kurtulmuş.

The meeting provided an opportunity for an extensive exchange of views on matters of mutual interest. Particular emphasis was placed on the successful conclusion of the Fifteenth Meeting of the Council of Assembly of TURKPA, as well as the Plenary Session, held a few days earlier in Bishkek, the capital of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The parties discussed ways to further develop relations among the brotherly Turkic States, with particular attention to strengthening the strategic partnership and enduring fraternal ties between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, two countries pursuing independent and strong policies. They noted that expanding cooperation between Azerbaijan and Türkiye in the political, economic, military and parliamentary spheres makes an important contribution to strengthening unity across the Turkic World and serves as an example for other brotherly States. H.E. Mr. Numan Kurtulmuş expressed the readiness of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye to provide comprehensive support for further deepening cooperation in this regard.

The important role played by TURKPA in advancing parliamentary diplomacy and strengthening interparliamentary relations among the Turkic States was also highlighted. The parties exchanged views on prospects for further expanding the Assembly’s activities in 2027 and beyond, bringing the legislative frameworks of the brotherly States closer together, implementing joint projects and enhancing cooperation among their parliaments.

It was emphasized that further strengthening relations among Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, as well as aligning the national interests of the brotherly States and enhancing mutual support, contributes to consolidating the position of the Turkic World within the international system.

In addition, the parties held a detailed exchange of views on preparations for the upcoming 13th Summit of the Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), scheduled to take place in the coming days, and on matters on the Summit’s agenda.

Ambassador Ramil Hasan expressed his gratitude to H.E. Mr. Numan Kurtulmuş for the warm reception. He also conveyed his appreciation to Mr. Kurtulmuş and the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye for their support for the development of Azerbaijan–Türkiye relations and ties across the Turkic World as a whole, as well as for strengthening parliamentary diplomacy.

Deputy Secretary General of TURKPA Mr. Muhammet Alper Hayali also attended the meeting.
