Emphasizing the significance of the Agreement establishing TURKPA, signed on 21 November 2008 at Dolmabahçe Palace in Istanbul, Republic of Türkiye, a founding State of the Organization, the Secretary General of TURKPA Ambassador Ramil Hasan noted that TURKPA has been successfully carrying out its activities for many years and that inter-parliamentary cooperation among the Turkic States has entered a qualitatively new stage of development. He further emphasized the important role that TURKPA plays, and can continue to play, in a number of politically and strategically significant processes, including fostering closer relations among the legislative bodies of the brotherly States, developing and adopting model legislation, and facilitating the prompt ratification by national parliaments of the historic decisions adopted by the Heads of State of the Turkic States. In this regard, a number of proposals concerning further steps aimed at strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation and enhancing the effectiveness of TURKPA’s activities were presented to the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye.

In turn, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, Prof. Dr. Numan Kurtulmuş, highly commended the activities of the Secretary General and positively assessed the work accomplished over the past ten months. He expressed confidence that future initiatives would contribute to elevating strategic cooperation among the brotherly countries to a new level and would constitute the next stage in the development of a common parliamentary platform among the Turkic States. He further reaffirmed the commitment of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye to continue supporting TURKPA’s activities in the future.

The Deputy Secretary General Mr. Muhammet Alper Hayali accompanied the Secretary General during the meeting.
