On 10 October 2013, TURKPA International Observers Mission held a press conference to present their conclusions on the presidential elections held in Azerbaijan on 9 October 2013. Mr. Jandos Asanov, TURKPA Secretary General, opened the press conference and thanked authorities of Azerbaijan for providing proper conditions to monitor elections by the TURKPA observers. Mr. Haluk Ipek, Head of the TURKPA Observers Mission, member of the Parliament of Turkey, briefed the representatives of mass media on the results of election monitoring and presented a statement in this regard. Mr. Ipek said that members of the Mission conducted a short-term monitoring of the presidential elections and in this framework meetings were held with the Chairman of Milli Majlis, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Head of the TURKPA mission emphasized that election day was peaceful and calm, and mission had not observed any violations or deviations from the internationally recognized norms. He added that certain technical shortcomings were characterized as isolated cases and could not have significant impact on the entire voting process. The TURKPA International Observers Mission concluded that the presidential elections held in the Republic of Azerbaijan on 9 October 2013 in general met the international elections standards.
