Message of the International Secretariat of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA) on the occasion of the Day of Remembrance of Disaster Victims and Solidarity

6 February was designated as the Day of Remembrance of Disaster Victims and Solidarity at the 10th Summit of the Organization of Turkic States, held on 3 November 2023 in Astana. In the aftermath of the devastating earthquakes that struck the south, southeastern, and eastern regions of Türkiye in February 2023, the Turkic world demonstrated exemplary unity and solidarity. Timely and compassionate assistance was extended not only at the governmental level, but also through the dedicated efforts of volunteers and communities across the Turkic States. On this meaningful occasion, we reaffirm our shared commitment to standing together in times of hardship and pay solemn tribute to the memory of those who lost their lives. We sincerely hope that such tragedies will never recur and extend our heartfelt wishes for peace, stability, and well-being to all.
